Voces Cordis
WITH 65 Voces Cordis Choir Members, conducted by André van der Merwe
Voces Cordis takes to the stage at Klein Karoo Klassique for the first time, presenting a programme that offers a rich and moving blend of genres and eras. Look forward to sacred choral works by composers such as Andrey Makor and Jacob Handl, vibrant contemporary pieces by Laura Jēkabsone and Jacob Collier, a soulful Latvian folksong, and Mia Makaroff’s energetic spiritual Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel. The choir also shares their own interpretation of the beloved Afrikaans piece “Voshaarnooi” – a lyrical tribute to their cultural roots. Expect a tapestry of sound that weaves together classical textures, world music, folk traditions, and vocal innovation – all delivered with heart. Conductor André van der Merwe is also the Musical Director of the Stellenbosch University Choir (since 2003) and the Stellenberg Girls Choir (since 1999). Under his musical guidance, both ensembles have won numerous national and international awards, and several of his own arrangements have also been recognised.
